Service Opportunity – Carmel Art of the Dog

Hello Troop 101,

My name is Molly O’Connor and I am interning for Nancy Heck this summer with the City of Carmel. . The event is called Art of the Dog and will be held from noon-4pm on Sunday, July 22nd on 2nd Ave NW. There will be a variety of dog related activities which let both you and your pet be the artist, as well as a “Pet Picture Day” station and some tables set up with dog treats and dog grooming! I know it’s a short notice to ask for your help, but this will be a really fun event and I would love to get you involved. I will need volunteers for a few things:

  1. Poster Hanging – This is good for Boy Scouts of any age and doesn’t have a specific time frame. Attached is a list of places I would like for the Art of the Dog poster (also attached) to be hung up around Carmel. If possible, I would like for posters to be hung up as early as tomorrow (7/11) and for all of the places on the list to have a poster hung up by this Sunday (7/15) or Monday (7/16). If you don’t have a way to print the flyer, I am more than happy to do it for you at City Hall if you could come pick them up.
  2. 2. Pup Art – I will need volunteers who are age 16 and over to assist in running the station for the event where the dogs get to be the artist. This is great for people who love dogs and want to meet a ton of them at this event! An employee from the Indiana Canine Assistance Network (ICAN) will arrive at 10:30am to show the volunteers the best way to do it and if they could be there for the entire event (12-4pm), that would be preferable. I know this may conflict with some of the Boy Scouts going to church, so if that kind of time commitment won’t work I understand.
  3. 3. Pay Station – At the event people will be able to purchase a blank canvas for Pup Art or a 5×7 professional picture taken with their dog. I will need some volunteers to run this station by charging people for either activity and giving them a ticket to get their picture taken or a blank canvas once they pay. They will also need to keep track of the cash box at the table. I would like for these volunteers to be some of your older Boy Scouts or adults if applicable. This is a great volunteer opportunity for people who would only like to be there for a few hours or who want to come after church!

Please let me know if this is something you’d be interested in so we can work out some more details. If you have questions or need me to clarify any of the above information don’t hesitate to ask! I’m looking forward to hearing back from  you.

Thank you,
Molly O’Connor
