ALL SCOUTS: Alert! Alert! Alert!
I hope you are all aware that Scout Sunday is coming up on Feb. 10th. It’s been announced, and the request for volunteers to participate has been put forth. So far…NO TAKERS! So, I am now asking as gently as possibly for those who can participate to please see me ASAP to help. There are 3 services that morning at the United Methodist Church…8:30, 9:30, and 11:00. We will need Scouts for all three services. In addition to our usual involvement of greeters and ushers, this year we are seeking participants to take an active part in leading the worship services: i.e. – offering prayers, reading scripture, and those who will present the colors and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Also this year, I am seeking recent Eagle Scouts who would be willing to share in their process and projects for the benefit of the attendees. A video presentation is being prepared of our activities through the year, and will be shown in each service.
This is an important function for our Troop, and we want to support it strongly. I am aware of the conflict with the campout that weekend, but some of them are planning to come back early on Sunday to participate. That’s great!! So, if you can help out with one of the services…or even be present for all three…then PLEASE see me either before or after the upcoming Monday meeting. We only have 4 more meetings before Feb. 10th, so don’t wait to sign up. If you don’t volunteer, I will be asking you personally. Let’s make this the best Scout Sunday ever!! Thanks. Frank Hibbard, Troop Chaplain
