Hello Troop 101,
As promised here is the Friends of Scouting information and Pledge Card.
As a volunteer for the last 18 years, I am reaching out to say thank you for your ongoing support. It is that time of year when one of our volunteers reaches out and asks for your help in continuing the Scouting program in Central Indiana.
My Journey: I started as a parent just like you but quickly became the Tiger leader and then had the dual role of leader and committee chair at the cub level and continued being a leader for all ranks of Cub Scouts a couple times over. At the cub level I have enjoyed taking scouts to Camp Belzer and Camp Kikthawenund where they were able to try shooting, archery, cooking and many other things for the sometimes for the first time.
I personally think these are some of the nicest camps in the region. At the troop level I started as the Patrol Mentor for the Kickapoo patrol and moved into advancement about 8 years ago and now serve as the Scoutmaster. I absolutely love helping them achieve their goals. The opportunities the scouts are given are truly amazing. I have seen scouts get to fly in a tiny airplane, get to be part of the flag ceremony for the Final Four, help the community through service, and tackle their fears and goals at Camp Ransburg. Going to summer camp is one of my favorite things to do, not only because Camp Ransburg is beautiful but because I really get to help the scouts, join in their games, listen to their stories, and laugh with them. The growth they experience from 11-18 is remarkable. I am happy I get to be a small part of it all.
My Ask:
Please see the attached pledge card. You will find a QR code that leads to the website supporting Crossroads of America Council. This is our local council and all money donated will stay local to help support scouting families like us through camperships, registration and uniform assistance, property upkeep, and scout center services. Please consider giving at the one scout level: $225, but donations of any size are appreciated. These can be set up with a small monthly donation, a direct gift, or a pledge to pay any time over the remainder of 2023.
