Hello Troop 101,
I hope everyone is doing well. All Scouting activities that have been scheduled up to May 1st have been canceled. Summer Camp at this point in time is still a go.
The committee had a virtual meeting tonight and we have come up with a plan.
I understand this is long but please read all the way through. We want to keep you involved and advancing. Hopefully, this is just a bump in the road.
First, I want to let you know of an opportunity that could really be fun for you all and it will give you something to do. The Council in North Carolina is offering merit badge classes to you for the cost of $5.00. Currently 2, 000 scouts have signed up to do this from across the country. The classes are one week sessions and there are 5 different sessions. I hope that some of you take this opportunity. I was told that if you want to do session 1 then you need to sign up by this Wednesday. Cyber Chip is required. Her is the link for signing up and all the information you need.
Second, you read that cyber chip is required for the above online classes and anything we will be doing in the foreseeable future, so starting Monday, March 30th we will be having a virtual troop meeting to teach cyber chip to all of you.
We will be sending out instructions inviting you to join Zoom. Scouts 5-8th grade scouts will join from 7:00 pm -7:30 pm and the 9-12th grade scouts will join from 7:45 pm–8:15 pm .
We are also in the works for future Monday meetings so stay tuned.
Patrols, we want you to be able to have virtual patrol meetings and connect with each other but after cyber chip have been taught. We will go into further details after Monday’s cyber chip meeting.
YouTube has a scouting channel
They are offering Scouting at Home with scout skill of the day and every Wednesday there will be a challenge. Last week’s challenge was Let’s Get Cooking. Take a look at it. if you do these activities take a photo or video and email them to myself and Mr. Radtke. Be sure to copy both of us. This then complies with YPT and the cyber stuff. We can then apply it to your rank if applicable. Here is the link

Another thing you may enjoy is the Jamboree on the Air/ Jamboree on the Internet. This will connect you to Scouts around the world. Taking place April 3-5

Feel free to continue to work on your partial merit badges and your summer camp Pre Recs. Send those to me and I will get them to the appropriate counselor.
Physical Fitness is really important for all of you now so go outside and do something in your yard, Shoot some hoops (alone), ride your bike, take a walk. Get up and move around. Don’t forget to log your fitness. 1st years need it for rank, Personal Fitness Merit Badge , and just to keep from going stir crazy.
In the meantime, keep being patient and start thinking of some cleaver ways we can all still enjoying scouting. I will happily listen to your ideas, or you can pass them on to your SPL
I certainly miss all your smiling faces and hope to see them soon.
Thanks,
Melanie (Mrs. Baker) and the whole committee
