Troop 101,
A big thank you to Rick and Jenna Rowe for volunteering to take on popcorn inventory responsibilities, Ted Metz for taking on Popcorn Treasurer, Stephen Hunt for coordinating our storefronts, and Michele Purvis and Jason Compton for volunteering to help with initial pick-up. You are all very much appreciated!
Popcorn sales start soon! Please read this note carefully. I’d like to challenge all scouts to sell $500 of popcorn. This would pay for a camp-out, give the scout some personally accountability, and ensure our troop will get additional commission by selling more than last year. It also benefits our council and local campgrounds. The commission (minus minimal troop expenses) is deposited to your scout account and will be at least 32%. Scouts who sold in our troop last year averaged over $700. $500 is a very attainable goal.
Pre-Orders
Orders due today, Friday August 2!! See e-mail sent on July 28th. Return unsold popcorn by Oct. 7 to ensure it can be transferred and scout/troop is not financially responsible.
Products
Chocolate products are non-returnable. Please store them in a temperature-controlled environment so the customer receives a quality product; use a cooler at storefronts. If your company sends food gifts to suppliers or others for the holidays, consider asking them to send a popcorn collection box. Please do NOT open the collection boxes. These boxes contain bags of product and are sold as a unit. Note, the chocolatey caramel crunch will be in a bag instead of a tin this year. The cheddar cheese increased in price but the bag is larger.
Sale Period
The sale period is August 24 through October 20. Plan to attend our troop kick-off on the 19th. Completed order forms, payments received and unsold popcorn are due back to Troop by October 21. This is Noblesville’s fall break; please plan accordingly. Final delivery will be the week of November 13; customers can expect to receive their order shortly thereafter.
Online Sales
An invitation e-mail was sent on July 17. Refer to the e-mail or set up your scout account at: https://www.trails-end.com/login. Share the scout’s personal page with out-of-town family and friends; the system will guide you. User name may be formatted firstname.lastname. Sales count toward prizes now. Commission is 35% and shipping is free!
Trail’s End App
Download and use the App!! https://app.trails-end.com/ An extra 2% commission is earned if 80% of sales are recorded in the app. Must be registered with trails-end (see above for online sales).
Payment
Customers may pay by cash, check, or credit (through the app). You can collect the money up front or when the product is delivered. Checks can be made to the troop, “Troop 101” or to the scout parent who can write a consolidated check. We do incur a fee for bad checks. You may use a Square reader if you have one or manually type in the card information. The app will process the credit card payment with no fee charged to scouts. The troop will have Square readers available for storefront sales.
Military Donation
The military donations are $30/$50. Each donation at one of these levels will receive a tax receipt. No magnets will be given by council, but I do have a few left over from previous years. Tax receipts can be found here: https://247scouting.com/web/BSA160/attachment/document_14405313100_1379.pdf Smaller amounts are entered in the app under “Misc. Military”.
